Week 9 Reading & Writing

 Week 9 Reading & Writing

This week I will be reflecting on the reading and writing work I have been completing each week since the start of semester. I would have to say I have enjoyed taking part in the reading and writing assignments. Throughout each assignment I have noticed considerable improvements in different areas of my literacy skills. My lecturer has given  me constructive feedback in my writing so each week I have grown more and more confident in overcoming the written assignments.

I found that at the beginning of the semester it was taking me a considerable amount of time to complete the written tasks. Way more than it should have. Overtime and practice I have managed to better the speed at which I overcome written tasks. Overall I am happy with how I have been completing the written tasks and I am excited to continue advancing my skillset.

My Favorite Reading

My favorite reading from the first nine weeks is most definitely the one on Carol Dweck and her theory of the growth mindset. I absolutely loved that reading, it was completely relevant and I could really relate to it. It is so important to be aware of the benefits that come with a growth mindset. Personally I believe in a growth mindset, when you put yourself in uncomfortable situations you are giving yourself an opportunity to learn, grow, and develop new skills. You can never learn anything new if you don't try.

Being confident in your ability to adapt and learn is what the growth mindset is all about, it is half the battle when you change your mindset from a fixed one to one that is ready to grow. This reading and theory relates back to another reading which I enjoyed, Neil Gaiman's, Advice a creative life.  "Make new mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes, make mistakes nobody's ever made before." I found the readings of these sorts extremely motivating and I could see myself looking more into Carol Dweck and Neil Gaiman.

I would recommend to anyone who is interested in these sort of readings to check out this channel,Yes Theory on YouTube. I find these guys so entertaining and their whole thing is about seeking discomfort. It is incredible what you can achieve when you take yourself out of your comfort zone.

Biggest Achievement

I believe my biggest achievement so far for this module would be either learning how to use a new software in Unity, or else it would be the development of my writing and blogging skills. Each week I have steadily improved my blog in content and aesthetics which is something I am proud of! I am at a stage where I like how it looks and where it is going. Although I have struggled with the unity tutorials I feel I have immersed myself into the module in terms of learning game development. Each week I failed to complete a unity tutorial I persevered and improvised and began to read through the tutorial and take notes on what I thought was important or what might be relevant to my game project. I would say I am happy with my game project. I really enjoyed to development process, I think I came up with a few good concept for games. I just hope that everything goes as planned for the remainder of the semester!
